It's (not) just an Ad

Well, hello people! It felt so long since I wrote my last post. Yesterday, I have just got back from a very tiring mentor-training at Puncak. It was 3 days, lemme tell you the worst part(s). First, when we went there, the bus broken down so we had to waste an hour waiting it to move again. Second, it took 6 hours to reach home due to the (really really bad) traffic jam. Third, we were not supposed to bring our cellphone and other electronic devices. Yeah, three days without blackberry, iPod, etc. We also didn't know what time it was, since we were also forbidden to bring wrist watch and ALL of the wall clocks were nowhere to be seen. (I know it was sucks but thanks God it's finally over).

After those three days of hell, I don't feel like doing anything today (even if it's Saturday, who cares). So, I just youtube-ing and found some great (and tearful) commercials. Most of them are foreign ads anyway. I swear, they are all worth watching.

I cried after watching this ad :'(
Yes, it is in Mandarin. My mom said that the native dialect is in Taiwanese.
(I don't understand, so with all due respect to her, let's just pretend it is Taiwanese)

This ad is especially for you, girls.
I (also) cried after watching this ad :'( --> this time I cried harder
(Don't judge a video by its thumbnail, yes I know the thumbnail is not convincing but believe me, you have to watch this one)

I (also) cried watching this ad! --> I know sometimes I can be so sloppy.

The last two ads are from Thai Insurance, all of their ads are sooo touching but these two are my favorites. Here is one of the comment:
"Chai Chaiyawun" the President of Thai Life Insurance company ltd. have said that the main reason of his ad. is not to "sell insurance" but to create good conscious mind to thai social. Because he believe that when the whole social is good, all company and organization including to country must be good too. Which is the real sustainable development. -- user kkofg on Youtube

Watching all of these videos make me remember about Indonesian Ad which make my eyes teary. It's an old Tropicana Slim's ad, if you happened to remember.

I think this Ad is the best family-theme Ad ever on Indonesia's TV Screen.

However nothing beats my favorite video on Youtube, "The Places We Should Have Gone" by Wongfu Production. I even download the video to watch it whenever I feel like to. (I do think it is better than the more-famous Strangers Again video, although I do not deny that Strangers Again is awesome)

I just found out that Youtube-ing is actually fun (especially for those who has nothing to do, like me in the mean time). I know all of the above videos are so melancholy, maybe sometimes in the future I will post about funny ads. I hope you enjoy the videos and I'm sorry if you have watched all of the them before (and I am more sorry if you cry a river right now :P). Have a great Saturday!

Cheers.

Half of my heart

ROOM MATE.
Yeah, they are the first ones you would run to whenever you had nightmares.
Well in my case, I'm lucky to have one of the best! Meet her,

Jessica Christy
(Isn't she [...or the Tiger plushie] lovely? :P Check out her cool blog too! Click Here!)

We lived in two-bedrooms apartment right across our high school FOR THREE WHOLE YEARS and it has been a year since we left the place. We go to different college, life must go on anyway, isn't it? We're kinda busy but finally we have the time to meet each other, just the two of us last Wednesday. She arrived around 11 at my house and we started out first stopping at Soto Haji Mamat Gading Serpong :D

Soto Daging Kuah Santan

Oseng-oseng kuah bening

It turns out Oseng-oseng tasted better but with Kuah Santan :P Next, we went to Living World Alam Sutera and stopped at Chatime. She ordered the famous Pearl Milk Tea, while I hate pearls so I went for Grapefruit Green Tea (now I wonder why it's not green, just ignore). I love the beverages because you can pick the sugar level whatever you want it to be (ranging from no sugar to 100% sugar).

Pearl Milk Tea and Grapefruit Green Tea with Pudding topping.

After the food invasion, we went playing badminton and swimming in Aryaduta Sport Club. Yes, it was really tiring! The good thing was toasts we bought before in Roppan had been waiting for us. Ikebanana was mine (and come out as my favorite), it's banana and cheese and chocolate and utterly delicious. While, she had Pom Pom Ringo which basically is slices of apple on top of the toast and it's great too! ;)

Ikebanana and Pom Pom Ringo

I think it's the most productive day of mine since ever. It's really fun to meet her, it feels like we're still in high school :') She's totally the same person, funny, bright and everything (only 6 kgs lighter, about that, I'm on my way to lost some weight too fyi) Too bad we didn't even take one picture of us. I promised we won't forget to take some next time! By the way, I dig up thousands of photos on my laptop and found these! :')

This what happens when the homeowners are outrageously creative.

Look who's taller? ;)

The last pict I took before moving out, the place was sadly deserted.

The Old Days ;)

About the Tiger plushie, yes, she has three of them differing in size. She really is a big fan of Tiger!

Remember this? ♥

p.s. : I really wonder who live in our ex apartment right now :P
Cheers.

Seven Deadly Sins

Remember this photo?

Yes, it was from America's Next Top Model Cycle Four appointing The Seven Deadly Sins Theme
From Left: PRIDE, GREED, GLUTTONY, WRATH, ENVY, LUST, SLOTH
(p.s.: Naima won the cycle and she portrayed ENVY)

I was surfing the internet when I found a link which is capable to reveal my seven deadly sins.
(it is worth a try and won't take that long)

And my result is:

I feel awfully sinful since all of my seven sins are no less than medium. (sob)
However, I am sooo relieved knowing that my most pronounced sin is not gluttony.
In fact, I was in a great dilemma whether to take the quiz or not because I'm not ready to perceive the ugly truth :P
How about yours?

Cheers.

p.s.:  Guess what? Today I took lots of pictures with my high school best friends. I will post it later on when she has the time to upload it (and of course when I have the time to write about it too :P). Actually I have lotsa things I want to share but unfortunately, they are all about food. First, It would make me look like a hefty eater. Moreover, it would be so boring right?

There's always room for dessert

When it comes to dessert, what beats Honeymoon Dessert?

So, last Saturday I went to Honeymoon Dessert. They only serve dessert, a wide variety of it though. The desserts on the menu remind me of my trip to China, because they serve bunch of slushy desserts, like those desserts served after a big meal in China. (No wonder they've also opened in Hongkong, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hunan)

Watermelon Sago. It tasted sweet. (It's so chinese, no kidding right?)

Nevertheless, they also serve puddings (actually they serve a lot of puddings). They have tofu pudding too, it means the pudding is containing beancurd. By the way, for you who adores durian, you really should come and taste their special desserts which made from durian. Seriously, I really love their durian pudding!

Durian Pudding. A must try for die-hard durian lovers! :P
(Did they serve this durian desserts in Hongkong and China too? I wonder how much it cost!)

The rest of the menu also look so tempting but I'm too full to go for them all (not to mention I will be totally broke). Average price of the desserts is around 20k, despite the most expensive ones containing swallow nest (no wonder)  will cost you up to 80k.

Related with the title, have you ever wondered why they said 'there's always room for dessert'? So I googled and found out that human has a hunger hormone called Ghrelin. This hormone will stimulate your appetite when you’re hungry or in need of calories, it also makes you want to eat just because the food in front of you looks especially good. Note that Ghrelin stimulates a response to the mere sight of food which means it does not have to be real foods, Ghrelin will also affect you although you're only staring at a picture of a really delightful food (like those above HA-HA). No wonder we always love dessert (reckoning the fact that dessert looks really really delicious), the big question is answered.

The surprising fact is that this Ghrelin hormone is produced higher by leaner people and those who try to lose some weights by dieting. And yeah, amount of Ghrelin in your blood circulation also increases when you experienced lack of sleep. Now we know why our body always seems to work against us whenever we're trying to lose weight and why we suffered from midnight hunger :P

There is another thing happened last Saturday, this one is pretty funny. Well, to tell you the whole story, I need to confess this first: I went to Sour Sally before Honeymoon Dessert (fyi, I really think- twice -to tell you this). I ordered Twist Taro Pink Combo with mango and nata de coco toppings, the cashier asked me my name, printed the bill and handed me my order. When I sat down enjoying my fro-yo, something catch my eyes - it was the bill.

Still don't get it? She thought my name is Pretty! Well, I took that as a compliment in any case *blushing* :P --> I swear I told her my real name and not making the whole 'Pretty' name up (after all, who use 'Pretty' as a false name? ckck)

Cheers.

Rainy Thursday

Today was the last 2 days of my internship at Siloam Hospitals. It's almost been 2 months, time does fly so fast. Well, let's just skip the melancholic part, too much drama happened just in a day, more than I could handle :P

Sooo, I went to The Living World Alam Sutera this afternoon and finally got to taste Roppan after all this time the eatery opened (I have been meaning to go there since its grand opening --> somehow I felt like a glutton when writing this sentence down, never mind)
Roppan!
I guess those letters in Japanese means Toast to Happiness?
I don't know, It's only my best hypothesis anyway :P

The cashier. You should order and pay here first.
(I didn't know this when I walked in and sat down confidently asking for the menu, what an embarrassment.)

Roppan is a Japanese Style Diner specializing in Toast. They are opened at The Living World Alam Sutera, Gandaria City, and Pejaten Village. They also planning on opening coming soon eatery in Ciwalk Bandung and Denpasar Junction.

Some of pictures I capture by myself.

At first when I heard the name - Roppan - I think it is derived from the Bahasa of Toast which is Roti Panggang (Ropang). Apparently, I was wrong, it's not as simple as that. It is proved wrong by short text printed on their tissue.

Ignore the flaws, you know tissue, I mean how weak it is.

Notice the forks, they are smiling.

Enough with the obvious promotional part, let's see what they have!

What I got to taste today :D

Matcha Matcha Honey Toast.
It's added with red beans and almonds. Delizioso!
p.s.: the honey toast is alike to Pasta de Waraku's hanito only plus another 2 scoops of green tea ice cream at the same price!

I don't remember its name and I lost the bill (my bad), but the sauce is just too salty for my taste.

Teh Tarik in common.

What's on the menu?
Honey Toast

Crispy Sushi

Sweet Toast

Lychee Beer and Beef Hamburg Rice

*Above pictures are taken from Roppan Indonesia fanpage on Facebook and edited by me

You can also reach them by visiting www.roppan.com or following their twitter @roppanista or liking their Facebook fanpage (Roppan Indonesia).

Don't take life too seriously
'coz it's time for a toast to happiness - Roppan

Anyway, I also bought Golden Egg Tart in the mall. Yes, it is the branch of Golden Egg Tart in Pasar BSD. I really love their Portuguese Egg Tart, especially when they are freshly baked from the oven. The egg is so delicate and surrounded by crispy pastry. It's the best egg tart in town, I just keep craving for more!

Portuguese Egg Tart from Golden Egg Tart.

Roppan and Golden Egg Tart! :D --> yes I know it's not important.

Whoaaa, I'm so full and it's raining outside. What a perfect combination to go home and take a nap (and forgetting the fact that today is Thursday which includes in weekdays which means work) Anyway, have you noticed that I didn't even take one shoot of myself? My outfit is just err and my hair is just eeeww. You know what I mean :P

Cheers.

p.s.: Who wrote the gloomy title? What happen with the whole 'skip the melancholic part'? Yeah yeah I know, whatever.

The Ugly Truth

Sometimes, people are just too pry and judgy.
You see?

p.s. : It reminds me of Punnet Square from Mendel Law of Aggregation! *freak alert.

However, it is undeniable that this applies to some cases :P

Birthday Bash part 1

My father turns 45! Actually it's on the 4 th of July (yes, he shares his birthday with the USA), therefore it's just a little bit too late to say happy birthday. However, here is the important part: today is the birthday treat (part 1)!

Long story short, my father got a birthday present from a bank which appeared as The Duck King dining voucher and he decided to use it today so the family goes to Senayan City (as usual, I play the most important role as the family driver - they won't arrive anywhere without me, you see how important I am to the family, don't you?). --> Pardon me, it's only the better version of fact to make me feel good about the whole driving thing.

Meet the driver, me.
(Yes, it is the same tops I wore in the header picture, if you happen to notice)

A not-so-important-still-seemingly-positive-camera-object The Duck King wet tissue of mine.

When we got there, luckily, we didn't have to wait for a table (although it took like forever struggling through the bad traffic and finding unoccupied parking lot). Apparently, the gift voucher only covers 4 different dishes and 2 similar dishes which is Pocay cooked with something (unfortunately, I don't eat pocay, I loathe pocay). Thus, we added some of our favorite menus and got 20% discount using CIMB Niaga cc :D

Jasmine Chinese Tea.
We always order this beverage in every Chinese Restaurants.
(Perhaps just to get along with the circumstances? Or they made the best Chinese Tea? I never really ask why)

Cha Siew Baked Buns
The first side dish, I think this belongs to the Dim Sum servings.
We picked this up from its kind that the waiter offered while waiting for our order.
Note: we were severely starved in the mean time.

One of the free dishes.
I didn't notice its name and it didn't appear in the bill, it was tofu cooked with particular sauce anyway.

The Pocay! *eeew
(trust me, it looks more delicate in the picture - the power of Photoshop is clearly amazing)

Free dish number 2 - hotplate chicken something.

Free dish number 3 - Hotplate tofu and seafood? Blank.

Favorite dish number 1 - Salted and Buttered Squid
It tastes better than it looks!

The famous roasted duck from The Duck King.

My brother's favorite - Honey Cha Siew Chicken.

Free dish number 4 - It's shrimp and chicken with Thai sauce if I'm not mistaken.

It's the most favorite dish of mine! I'm a big fan of Garlic Scallop!

See the ugly face? It's an expression describing 'I'm too full' state.

We went shopping after the food invasion and overjoyed by the big sale over there. I bought some new outfits and I also bought The Famous Amos cookies right before we went home but I totally forgot to take any picture of it (my bad).

The last picture on the escalator heading to the basement parking lot.
(I know I look really not cool and perfectly pale and everything, the lighting is unbelievably bad there)

Cheers.
