The good news is, I'm having nearly 3 months holiday (sounds so good right?)
Well the bad news is, it's too long for my taste and I hate wasting time just hanging out accomplish nothing but drain my parents' treasury or laying all day in my bed watching dramas on DVD or sitting in front of laptop day and night playing games on Facebook or stalking people or.. well you got the idea, it's just a BIG NO-NO, no offense.
So I decided to take an internship program (desperately hoping to be or at least to look productive) at the most well-known hospital in Indonesia, which is.......
Yes, it is Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village! (FYI, it is the ONE and ONLY hospital in Indonesia with International accreditation from JCI USA) --> please excuse me, I am interning in Marketing division.
My name card (without my name on it) hanging around my neck all day -
it's so simple you can DIY at home.
What is my position there?
As I've told you before, I'm interning in Marketing of NRD division (N- something - Reach and Development, I swore I once knew what the N stands for but now I hardly remember at all, my bad). To be clear, I'm not only working for Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village but I work for the entire group of Siloam Hospitals, calling themselves as the Corporate. I work at the office on 5th floor of SHLV indeed, so if you happen to visit the hospital you won't see me wandering around the lobby or anywhere else.
Meet the interns : Pamela, ME, and Nathania
How long do I have to work?
I'm working on office hour, 8 am to 5 pm every week days and get extremely - awfully - minimum pay (don't even dare to ask how much, it even lower than the money my housemaid earned, just forget about it). It's just about two weeks to go to enjoy my real holiday! It means I've been working here for more than a month (and I haven't got my salary, oops TMI). However, I did nothing significant. Maybe I should not even expect to get paid (sob).
oh yes, playing Tetris Battle on Facebook during working hours is definitely insignificant work
and - without doubt - not a good example
My attendance list
What exactly did I do there?
I write some articles for Siloam Magazines, and for their brochure too (if you see those ones with brain cover describing about MRI and MRA, that's my words on there!). I translate Bahasa articles into English (since the big boss does not understand Bahasa really well - He's Indian). I also do some secretary stuffs as answering phone, sending fax messages, and media monitoring (It's the job when you have to read every word people write on the media about the hospital, and yes, everyday they are hoping there will be no harsh reader's comments on the newspaper,in addition for the record, Siloam hasn't even got one --> once again it's my job to promote the hospital remember?)
The most interesting day at work is when they were holding press conference on quadruple babies (a very-big-belly mama gave birth to 4 healthy babies at once which is an extremely rare case - approx 1:750.000) and the interns took a part on the big event!
Meet them! You can directly distinguish the gender by the flower headband.. how cute!
It's us posing behind the conference table
(people keep wrong guessing I am the second from the right while in fact I'm the one at the most left)
Overall, in my opinion, it is a good experience to work here (and somehow a good way killing your free time on holiday). Besides, you'll get some kind of certificate that would make your CV looks more 'crowded'.
Soooooo how's your holiday guys? Having fun?
Cheers
